Laura Mercier Sleek & Chic Palette

Urban Decay's Naked palettes have undeniably stolen the blogging limelight, but I think Laura Mercier's eyeshadows are highly underrated. The 'Sleek & Chic' palette is the second eyeshadow collection from the French make-up artist to fall into my hands, and I absolutely love it as much as I did the first one.

Firstly, the case! The hard, tortoise shell housing feels ultra luxe and has a retro vibe about it, which I love! It's got a magnetic flip-top closure and a huge mirror inside, along with twelve, beautiful, wearable shades that are so unique. No boring beiges and browns in here! The shades are buttery soft, highly pigmented, and blend together perfectly.

In the top left corner is Stellar, a cream shimmer, that's ideal for highlighting the brow bone and illuminating the inner corner of the eye.

Surrounding it, three neutral matte shades; Morning Dew, Ginger and Cashmere.

Then we've got the shimmer brown tones on the top row; Bamboo, Cedar and Bronze Glow. Bamboo is a champagne-coloured everyday shade that looks lovely worn alone or blended into any of the other colours, whether I opt for the copper or the purpley route.

As someone who wears strictly neutrals, I never expected to love the purples quite so much as I do. African Violet is probably my most worn shade so far. It's a coppery lilac that's so flattering and wearable. It looks beautiful blended with Cherrywood, a mahogany-brown purple. The other purple, Plumifique, is a brighter, royal purple that I haven't worn yet as it's a bit more vibrant.

Espresso Bean and Noir are matte shades and add a smokey effect to any of the colour combos you go for. I like smudging a little under my lower lash line and in the crease of my eyelid.
