Ultimo The One

Just like a bad hair day can set up your day on a bad note, bad underwear can do the same. Pulling a pair of sad, washed-out pair of old granny pants out of the underwear drawer just isn't the most positive way to start a morning.

But then again, frilly flouncy lingerie isn't always the most practical choice for every day wear. Luckily, there's so much choice when it comes to pretty yet practical everyday underwear, and I think that this set from Ultimo strikes the perfect balance between comfort and style.

Ultimo have injected a bit of personality into their best-selling 'The One' bra, extending the range with lace, satin and printed versions. The 'Mollie' set* is made from super-smooth high-sheen fabric with contrasting pretty lace detailing and has just been released in this vibrant 'watermelon' pink shade with baby pink lace. Definitely a cheerful shade to slip into first thing in the morning!

The bra is ever so comfy, despite being a little on the small side. I'm having to wear my normal size (32B) on the last hook and could probably have done with a getting a 34 - but I'm hoping it'll stretch out with wear. The cups are seamless and made from smooth microfiber fabric that doesn't show through clothes - creating a natural rounded shape (unlike the awful pointy boob effect you can sometimes get from balconnette bras!). Perhaps my favourite thing (apart from the amazing Barbie pink colour!) is that ability to convert the straps into a racer back style. A few of my sports bras do this, but the clip on them is huge and bulky which not only looks awful but is very uncomfortable to lie down on! The clip on the straps of the Mollie is tiny and discreet, so you don't even realise it's there.

The Brazilian style briefs are definitely big pants made sexy, but more importantly they are the comfiest pair of pretty pants I have ever worn. Like the bra, the smooth fabric doesn't show through clothes - so no VPL!

I hate parting with too much cash on something that's (mainly!) hidden away, but cheap undies are often ill-fitting and badly made. Ultimo clearly are lingerie specialists, and the quality and comfort of this set reflect that - so I feel that their prices are more than fair. The Mollie set in Watermelon costs £24 for the bra and £12 for the knickers - not bad - but if you fancy picking up last season's colours, they're currently half price in the sale! I'm tempted to treat myself to the gorgeous navy version!

  2. I love underwear that is made out of fabric that front show through clothes, so many of my bras show the outline through tight tops, it's so annoying!

  3. Wow! I've never tried Ultimo before as I never thought their underwear was that attractive but I think your post might have changed my mind. I'm a Calvin Klein girl myself but that set is super cute!
