White Stuff

Last week, I wrote about a new favourite skincare brand, and this week I'm carrying on the theme of new brands by talking about my pleasantly surprising discovery of White Stuff. Of course I'd heard of White a Stuff before, but had always thought of it as a bit of a middle aged mumsy brand. But, while it may not be cutting edge fashion, it's certainly a hella lot more stylish than I ever gave it credit for.

I was invited to a bloggers tea party at the White Stuff store in Brighton to view their new Tea Ceremony collection, and it was here, whilst nibbling scoffing macarons and sipping tea champagne, that I discovered a whole new shopping destination.

So first, I'll tell you about the Tea Ceremony collection. Described as an "eclectic clash", it's inspired by 1920s Japan and brings together oriental prints and pretty embroidery with a vintage colour palette.  It fuses vintage inspiration with modern trends and Eastern pattern with Western shapes, but some how remains a really coherent and well put together collection, While some of the dresses and skirts were a little conservative for me, I loved the printed scarves; bright, lightweight and perfect for spring. I also loved basically all of the tops, jumpers and cardigans I'm the collection - especially the springtime sweater in oriental blue (must go back for) and the sunrise top (which I treated myself to).

But it was the other collections that really did it for me, personally. The Blueprint collection pretty much checked off my entire list of style loves: navy and white, flashes of cobalt blue, stripes, and even a lace Peter Pan collar. Meanwhile the Longboat collection features rainbow spots and stripes paired with denim and supposedly inspired by a colourful canal-side lifestyle, which is perhaps why I was so drawn to the collection, as I grew up going walking along the canals near our house, crossing the locks and peering inside the brightly coloured barges. I bought a lovely stripey sweatshirt which I can picture myself wearing on the Dorset coast this summer! Outfit post of this one coming very soon!
