Going Bronde for Autumn at Shine

It feels like only yesterday that I was getting a summery blonde balayage, but to my surprise five months have actually passed! So I booked myself into Shine Hair & Beauty*, a tranquil salon tucked away in Brighton’s lanes, to update my beachy boho dip-dye into a rich, autumnal 'bronde' - neither dark blonde nor light brown, but a beautiful blend of rich, golden, honey tones on a medium blonde to dark base.

The Shine salon itself is a gorgeous space with a laid back atmosphere. The interior fuses a rustic feel with urban features: exposed hanging light bulbs, lavender plants, leather chairs and dressing tables made from timber and scaffolding. Beautiful. As if the salon's atmosphere wasn't enough to chill me out, I was treated to a complimentary aromatherapy head and shoulder massage with a relaxing Aveda sandalwood oil, and a pot of decent coffee.

During my colour consultation, my colourist David advised me not to jump full in to the bronde trend just because it’s in fashion, suggesting the look I wanted would be best suited to natural brunettes or girls with a darker skin tone. Instead, we worked together to pick out colours that would reflect the trend whilst suiting my natural colouring. Initially, I was a little disappointed – but it’s the sign of a great hairdresser when they can use their professional knowledge to ensure that their client ends up looking their best.

The results are quite subtle, but have added a much richer, autumnal tone to my hair with an on-trend nod to bronde. The look was achieved by using L’Oreal Colour ID highlights and lowlights, followed by a golden brown toner to add depth and a glossy finish. I was then treated to a deep repair treatment, and relaxed for half an hour in the salon’s massage chairs -  heaven!

What do you think? Are you going to embrace a warmer hair colour for the colder months?
