The Foolproof Guide to Christmas Gifts For Him

Christmas shopping for girls is easy - something pretty and/or smelly and it's a pretty much guaranteed win. However, when it comes to buying pressies for the men, it's near enough impossible. They're just so hard to buy for! With two brothers, a dad, stepdad and a boyfriend to cater for, all of whom refuse to actually tell me what they'd like, I find my Christmas shopping a particularly painful experience, but have discovered a few failsafe items that seem to usually go down a treat...

Trainers: Boys are just as bad as us when it comes to being obsessed with footwear. Matt & I can't even go into town without visiting at least two Vans stockists, and a new pair of trainers are sure to bring a smile to his face on Christmas morning.

A manly cook book: If the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, so a book jam packed full of meaty manly recipes is sure to be a winner, and you never know, you may end up with a few tasty treats to try yourself! But if he's not any good in the kitchen, what about a restaurant voucher instead?

A new album: A good old-fashioned CD always goes down well with both my musically-minded Dad and boyfriend. (Plus Matt & I have a similar taste in music so I get to enjoy it too!) Don't know what he'd like or is he a gadget-geek who no longer owns a prehistoric CD player? Get an iTunes voucher instead so he can download whatever he wants straight onto his iPod.

Man Jewellery: A nice bracelet is a perfect boyfriend present, whether his style is grungy, preppy or sporty there's a piece of jewellery that will suit. Matt loves his skate and surf brands so I bought him a lovely leather bracelet (like the one above) for our first Christmas together (three years ago!) and he hasn't taken it off since.

Headphones: A fancy pair of headphones will be a much loved pressie as they're the kind of thing he'd never get round to splashing out on himself. Plus, it might give you a bit of peace and quiet!

Boots gift set: When in doubt, go for a Boots gift set. My brothers have received their fair share of these! From a complex grooming regime set to a simple shower duo, there's no way you'll come out of Boots empty handed, no matter how clued up he is on his skincare! I've tried buy Matt various shaving balms and moisturisers but they end up unused, cluttering valuable bathroom cabinet space, so I opt for the luxury branded necessities to give him a little treat from the normal 'whatevers-on-offer-in-asda' products!
