The formula for an effortlessly stylish party look has remained the same for decades: LBD + classic red lip + a slick of black eyeliner = party perfection.
With the party season just around the corner, glo minerals have asked bloggers to create a classic party look inspired by their favourite decade, using three products from their mineral based, kind to skin cosmetics range. It was hard to choose between the smokey eye of the twenties, the cat eye of the fifties and the monochromatic dramatic eye of the sixties, but I ended up going for a classic, Marilyn Monroe inspired, retro look.
Base and brows: Marilyn embraced her pale skin, so after applying a powder base, I skipped the blusher in favour of a sweep of highlighter instead. (I used Benefit’s Hello Flawless powder and Girl Meets Pearl liquid highlighter). Then using Soap & Glory's Archery eyebrow shaping pencil, I emulated Marilyn's arched, defined brows.
glo minerals eyeshadow in Opal: I used a pearlescent white eyeshadow over my lids. The eyeshadow feels lovely and silky, and is such a pretty shade that can be applied lightly for a sheer coverage or built up for a bolder colour (as I did). I’m suffering from a bit of a sore rash on my eyelids at the moment, but as glo minerals is designed by dermatologists using a blend of vitamins and natural ingredients, it was kind to my skin.
glo minerals liquid eyeliner: The iconic feline flick of the fifties is my favourite eyeliner look day or night, but it’s fun to create a much more dramatic look for a night out. I usually despise bottle and brush style of eyeliner and tend to stick to eyeliner pens, but I managed to create a surprisingly good cat eye with the glo minerals liquid eyeliner! It gives a really intense black and the dainty brush makes it easy to get a really defined line and flick. I did however, find this much wetter than my usual Soap & Glory Supercat eyeliner and found it smudging into my eyelid.
glo minerals lipstick in Spiced Rum: No party look would be complete without a bit of red lippy! I don’t suit many red lipsticks, but luckily Spiced Rum works perfectly on me, it’s a warm, orange toned, deep red with a golden shimmer – and the name is rather festive! The quality of these lipsticks are just lovely – creamy, nourishing and silky with a colour that stays put.
