I tend to stick to my old favourite perfumes time and time again (namely, Nina by Nina Ricci!) but sometimes find myself in a perfume rut. Sometimes, it's great to be exposed to products you'd never usually pick out yourself - enter the Discovery Club from the Fragrance Shop - a quarterly subscription box, filled with six tester scents (and a booklet entitling you to £10 off each fragrance!), delivered straight to your door for £5 per box.
Not only does this box give you the chance to discover new favourites, but also each small tester will last long enough to wear for a week or so - all to often I find that after wearing in a new scent, it's not quite as nice as I initially thought it was - so the box is great to be able to give a new perfume a longer trial before making the splurge. The box also includes two samples pour Homme, which Matt gladly snapped up.
Although the concept of discovering new fragrances and being able to really put them to the test is great, I'm not entirely convinced. If you happen to like everything you receive in the box and want to buy the full size bottles using the money off vouchers, then it's great value for money! But if you receive a box full of unwanted testers which will likely end up gathering dust in the bottom of a drawer, (which, for me is the most likely option as I'm quite picky with perfumes!) then it's a total waste of money. Also, in comparison to beauty box subscriptions, this comes across a little stingy... Pay £10 for a beauty box, and more often than not you'll get at least two full sized products, plus generous sample sizes, worth way more than the price of the box.
What do you think of the Discovery Club concept? Do you like to stick to your old favourites (and if so what are they?) or would you enjoy testing new scents every three months?
