Morning Skincare Routine

"Good morning starshine, the earth says hello!" is NOT how I feel when my alarm rudely disturbs my beauty sleep at 7.30am. I'm not a very good morning person, so my skincare routine needs to be simple, quick and using products that are awakening and invigorating to pull me out of my pre-9am coma.

St. Ives 'Fresh Skin' Apricot Invigorating Scrub* with a splash of freezing cold water is the best way to wake up. The smell of this scrub is so fresh and fruity, it instantly awakens my senses and makes me feel ready for the day. Made from cleansing apricot extract and exfoliating ground walnuts, it scrubs away dead skin cells and reveals a smooth and radiant complexion, ready for a face full of make-up.

I can't deal with thick creams in the morning, so h2o+ eye OASIS Moisture Replenishing Gel* is the perfect, refreshing boost for fragile, sleepy eyes. Then, I usually skip a day cream and just whack on a BB cream for my moisturiser, SPF and foundation in one - anything that saves time and effort in the morning is a win. I'm currently using Maybelline's Dream Fresh BB Cream which is OK, if not a little on the oily side... next time I'll be investing in The Body Shop's version. After make-up, I finish off with Carmex Moisture Plus tinted lip balm which is wonderful - hydrating and a lovely glossy peach colour (to be honest this step usually takes place on the bus!)

I try to remember to take a shot of Matcha green tea in the morning - not strictly speaking 'skincare' but the ridiculous amount of antioxidants of course contribute to a healthy glow.  I got this one from Amazon, it's much cheaper than TeaPigs and exactly the same. I either make a normal green tea (which doesn't taste great but is quite nice with honey and/or lemon) or take it as a shot when I'm in a rush, but the nicest way to get your daily dose of green tea goodness is to blend it into a smoothie- my favourite is apple, pear, kiwi and green tea.

What are your favourite morning skincare saviours?

  1. I love the St Ive's scrub, one of my favourites! I try to take echinacea every day, usually in my green tea and I've found it's really helped my skin & immune system so I agree about it being part of my skincare routine!

  5. I also love the St. Ives and have been using it for a long period of time now! But, I am in search of a product that will show me tighten skin at a relatively cheap cost. What do you think of the mineral bath that is supposed to help with those very problems that I just mentioned?
