When I saw that vintage-loving-singer-songwriter-turned-fashion-designer Pearl Lowe was designing the April Glossybox, I had to get one. I'd previously cancelled my Glossybox subscription because I'd have rather spent the £10 per month on a product I definitely would want/use, but the box design was so gorgeous that I figured I'd be happy to pay £10 for the pretty box alone- regardless of its contents. Isn't it so pretty? It'll look fabulous as bedroom storage!
But the products in the April Glossybox were just as lovely as the box itself. Having already read some spoilers before my box arrived, I was initially disappointed to see the Illamasqua eye and lip pencil in there. I'd seen other people had received a yellow one, which I knew I would never use and felt like such a waste of a luxury brand! I mean really, where would you ever use a yellow pencil... but to my delight, when I took it out of the box, it was a bright, candy pink! Yay! It's really creamy and soft and a perfect lip liner. I've even used it to colour in my lips- which lasts far longer than lipstick.
I also got an Essie nail polish from their new Spring collection. I got 'We're In It Together', which is a soft pink, with flecks of baby blue microglitter. Although I own a hundred pink polishes, it's unlike any other pink I've seen, and shimmers beautifully in the sun... I think, although I may have blinked and missed it.
Probably my favourite product was the Nip + Fab Body Butter in Pistachio Sundae. When I read the info sheet, I wished I'd received the coconut one- that was until I opened it up and gave it a sniff. I just wanted to shove my face in the pot/jump in a swimming pool full of it/eat it. It smells divine, such a sweet, summery scent.
Also in the box: a Crabtree & Evelyn hand cream in the scent Somerset Meadow. Not usually something I'd splurge on, with a full size tube costing £14, but it's a real luxury treat and smells just as the name suggests- it makes me feel happy and long for sunny days at Gladtonbury (though I highly doubt that that Somerset field will smell as nice...). The formula is really silky and leaves my hands feeling moisturised for hours.
Finally- a tester bottle of So Purple Elixr by Yves Roche, which is nice but probably not something I'd choose myself. The fragrance is light and fresh, and reminds me of woodland berries. It'll be handy to keep in my handbag for emergencies.
All in all, an amazingly good selection of products, and everything will definitely be getting used! And a beautiful box! Since I unsubscribed last time, it looks like Glossybox have upped their game! I can't wait to see what next month has to offer.
